Sally Settle is the granddaughter of Lake Okeechobee pioneers. As the daughter of a newspaper editor, her life was touched early by local history, stories, and folklore of those who put their labor and love into making homes and chasing dreams to the edge of the Everglades.

Settle holds a Masters degree in Library and Informational Services from Florida State University. She is a retired elementay school library media special who divides her time between Inverness and Alva, Florida.
